In the event of storm:

At the first sight of lightening and/or sound of thunder, the official in charge will suspend play. Play will commence 30 minutes after the last sight of lightening or sound of thunder. All players and coaches shall clear the field and immediately seek safe shelter. Teams shall not remain on the field or continue to play or practice during a storm or inclement weather.

In the event of wet grounds prior to the start of the game:

If the game is being played on a field owned and maintained by the Worthington Parks and Recreation Department (WPRD) and WPRD has closed the fields, the game (or practice) is to be cancelled. Status as to WPRD field closings can be found by calling 786-7366.

If the game is being played at a facility other than one owned and maintained by the WPRD, the opposing coaches will determine prior to the game if the fields are safe for play. If either coach deems the field to be unsafe, then the game is cancelled. Cancellation of the game does not require an agreement of the coaches involved.

In the event of rain once the game has started:

If there is a licensed official in charge, they will make the determination if the field conditions are safe for play. If the official in charge determines the fields to be unsafe for play, he/she may cancel the balance of the game.

In the event that there is not a licensed official in charge, the coaches shall confer and determine if the fields are safe for play. If either coach deems the field to be unsafe, then the game is cancelled. Cancellation of the game does not require an agreement of the coaches involved.

In ALL cases first consideration should be for the health and safety of the players, coaches, and spectators. Second consideration will be for the impact that playing the game will have on the field. No game shall be played that will knowingly damage the playing field beyond what a game played in normal conditions might do.
