Program Details

Travel Program Info Sheets:

3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade WYB Travel Basketball teams are planning on participating in the Central Ohio Basketball Association (COBA) basketball league.  For more information on COBA, visit

Depending on gym availability, each team will have two practices during the week sometime between 6:00 and 9:00 pm. Practices will begin in late October and conclude in the middle of February. Additional practices can be scheduled at the discretion of the coach.

Indoor Practices

The Worthington Travel Baseball Program is very fortunate to have continuous access to a dedicated indoor facility called the "Bat House." The Bat House features 2 cages and gives Nationals teams a chance to do some work indoors. It is located in a unit in the Buckeye Heating & Cooling building on Worthington Galena Rd. The program is very thankful and fortunate to have this practice facility.

Each team will play 8 or 9 home games, 8 or 9 away games, and a COBA league tournament in the middle of February. Most games will be played on Saturday and Sunday, but there could be occasional weeknight games. League games will be held from late November to early February with a two week break during the Christmas holiday. Most away games will be within a 30 minute drive. More away games can be scheduled at the discretion of the coach.

Each team will participate in the season ending COBA tournament, which is covered by the player fees. Teams may participate in more tournaments at the discretion of the coach, but the players on the team would be responsible for any additional fees. Coaches will get the approval of the parents before committing to additional tournaments.

Playing Time:

The philosophy on playing time at the Travel Basketball level is that it will not be even for a player for each game. Coaches will be expected to play each player at least a quarter of every game, with some players receiving more playing time in one game and less playing time in another game. Every attempt will be made to provide playing time of 50% over the season for the league games. It is important that all players receive an appropriate amount of playing time to ensure their development as a basketball player.

We encourage young athletes to participate in all sports in which they desire. However, the expectation is that a WYB Travel Basketball player will make basketball their top athletic priority during the basketball season and make every effort to attend all practices and games.
