The WYB Track and Field program is a great introduction to everything track and field. The coaches that are with the kids focus on personal growth and development. At the track meets we want the kids to achieve their PR (personal record) for their events.
At a typical track meet, we will run two sprint running events along with an optional 1600m (1 mile) run. The shortest sprint event is the 100m run. Field events for the day will be assigned by grade level in school and the kids usually are assigned 2 field events, but can compete in more if desired.
Our coaches do an excellent job at starting slow with the kids to prevent injuries. As the season progresses and the kids get acclimated we encourage the kids to push themselves to see what they can accomplish.
